Once again life got in the way and the first thing that got thrown to the waist side was this blog. I keep looking at the tab I set up, and think I really should write something, and then I say I will as soon as I ..... and we all know how that goes. Little Bug is 21 and in her last month or so of student teaching. Scooter is 19 and still hasn't gone back to school, but he is working. My little pony is getting ready to turn 17, and is still doing theater and competing in horse shows. I am still working at the school and my office has now taken on a new occupant. I have a parent volunteer that comes in 2 days a week to help. She is a God send. She is one of those people that you can ask to do anything and she will do it with a smile. She keeps me in tears most days from laughing so hard. She is a straight shooter and will tell you like it is. Occasionally a word will slip out of her mouth that really shouldn't in an elementary school and the look of shock on her face is priceless. She hates to wear a bra and will tell me she must like me and must like coming up to school to help because she put on her bra. Ohh the things I hear in my office.....

Prayer
One of my favorite school stories is the one that has stuck with me for a few years. It was the main reason for starting this blog. I had always intended to share it.
We have a very energetic 5 year old at the school. He frequents my office, not because he is necessarily in "trouble". He is just energetic. He will sit in my office and tell me stories/ thoughts/ ideas, just whaever pops into his head. Well today he was very excited about a sore he had on his arm. He told me all about the sore, how it hurt, where it came from (he didn't know and that troubeled him greatly). He paused in his story, and looked me squarely in the eye and said " Let me tell you something about this sore.. Mom put medicine on it, we prayed for God to heal it, then I went to sleep and God healed it and the sore was gone. Isn't God great!" He then proced to dance around my tiny office singing a made up song about how great God is. It made me giggle then and it still makes me giggle now, 2 1/2 years later.

School
I was walking out to the playground the other day to deliver a message to a teacher and I over heard one of our Kindergarten students proclaim very loudly " How did you not know that I was your grandpa, I gave birth to you." Ummm. not sure what to say about that.

Good Evening
Well this past weekend was an exciting one. On Thursday night our school had their high school dance. So off my little pony went. She had a new dress to wear. Most of the time you will find my little pony in riding pants and t shirts. It was quite the change to see her in a dress, heals with her hair and make-up all done. Then Friday night she was off to a friends sweet 16 party; in another new dress. Then Saturday morning we were both up early for a spring workday at the barn. We swept, knocked down all the cob webs, scrubbed at the water and feed buckets, scrubbed all the boots and helmets and just generally gave the barn a good cleaning from top to bottom. Then we had a huge lunch. Everyone brought something and there was so much food, no one left hungry. After lunch we hid 650 eggs on the 27 acres of property. It was pretty wild watching about 15, 14-17 year old girls running and screaming trying to find eggs. The girls ended the evening paining the jumps. I don't know about the other girls, but my little pony came home with paint all over her, her clothes, her face and even her feet. Apparently you can't paint with shoes on, so all the girls went barefooted. It was one of those perfect days all the way around.

Hello Again!
Life got in the way and unfortunately my blog was the first thing that got dropped from my life. I have missed it and have thought about starting it back up, but just haven't had the time or energy. Well as I sat in my school office, I decided that it was time. Time for me to make time for me. To give you an update, my bug is now 20, finishing her junior year in college, getting ready to start her TOSS and student teaching. She will graduate middle of May next year (2014) then 3 weeks after graduation, she is getting married. My scooter is 18 and has dropped out of school. He is going back this summer to the local tech school to get his GED and learn a trade. He is the one giving us the most problems. He is an asthmatic and came home last night from a friends house stinking of smoke. His breath also smelled of smoke. Not sure what we are going to do. My little pony is still competing in horse shows and has done very well the last couple of years. She placed 2nd in the flat under saddle class at the Georgia Hunters Jumpers Finals for her division. All the while riding a rescue horse. The barn she rides at is a rescue facility. They rescue horses from the slaughter house and rehabilitate them and turn them into show horses. Watch for a post all about the barn and what we as a family do there. It is an incredible place. Back to my little pony, she is still helping with the Girl Scout troop, but her Brownies are now Juniors and they are working on their Bronze award. She has also joined a Christian theater company. She has always loved acting and did several small plays with the school. This has been a big step, but she loves it and is doing very well. Their first production is coming up soon. We are all excited.

One down , two to go
Our fall festival was a huge success. We earned more money than we have with any fundraiser we have ever done. The kids had a ball. Some parents thought it was a little chaotic, but it was an organized chaos. We had 16 games and the kids bought tickets and could go around and play whatever game they wanted to. My favorite part, watching the teenagers help the little kids. The best part, a couple of the kids from last year came back just to hang out for the day and play games.
We had one meltdown, the little kindergartener looks at his mom and says" I don't want it to stop, this is the best day ever." I guess a school fall festival beats a school field trip to Disney.

Sick
My bug and my little pony are both sick. A trip to the Dr is being added to an already busy day. My little pony helps lead a Brownie Girl Scout troop. This morning she was worried about what the little girls would do tonight, without her. This time the parents can step up and lead the girls, because my little one is staying home. My little pony competes in horse shows, and there is a huge one this weekend. We need her well for that.
My bug turns 19 next week, not sure what we are going to do for her birthday. This week has been really hard for her, she has several major test, a couple of projects, and two or three papers to do. I'm wondering if she got sick from being up working on all her school work and not getting enough rest. A full load is considered 12 hours, she is taking 18 this semester.
Off to school this morning to get ready for the fall festival tomorrow. The principal came in my office yesterday and told me it was way to messy and I needed to clean it up. Problem is; it isn't really messy, it is just filled with the games and prizes for the fall festival. We are also raffling off baskets that the classes have filled. Those are also hanging out in my small tiny closet of an office. I need some sense of order to be able to work and work well, and I don't have it this week.
